Black walnut is a species of tree native to North America. It produces a dark, smoky wood that is excellent for drum shells.  Walnut is known for its softer, warmer tones as opposed to the punchier and louder woods like birch and poplar.

Pick the solid walnut CajonTab® if you are a fan of walnut or if you would like a CajonTab® with a warm, rich sound without too much weight. Walnut is not a heavy hardwood like bubinga or padauk, making this drum easy to transport and carry.

  • How come the stains do not match on the solid walnut units?

    These drums aren't stained.  These are the natural wood grains. As such, there is a lot of variation, and we also make the snares separately from the drums so they don't necessarily come from the same piece of lumber.
