The solid walnut frame is a terrific sound wood. The softer walnut has a warmer tone than hardwoods like maple or oak, although the influence of the wood type on the sound is very subtle in a cajon.
What makes our drums unique is the removable external snare. The benefits to an external snare are more snare tone projection resulting in a more crisp sound as well as its ease of removal. Taking the snare off take just a few seconds and can turn the drum into a traditional Peruvian style box drum.
