This Poured Series drum is a great example of cell formation using a swipe technique.
To paint this drum, we first mixed acrylic paint with water to a pourable consistency. A small amount of silicone oil is added. The paint is poured into the back of the drum (not the playing surface), and then a thin layer of black paint is dragged across the other paint.
This causes the paint to settle into cells which we can use to create striking effects in our paintings.
I can't help but think of a certain bad guy from a trilogy of fantasy books featuring little people and wizards and elves...
This drum includes a black guitar strap and a solid black external snare.
